EACH CANDIDATE MUST BRING ALL NECESSARY SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT TO BE TESTED: Please refer  to the  Supplies List provided by the Board.

STATE WRITTEN (Computerized) EXAM:
Alabama Written Exam requires passing the Practical and the Rules & Laws Exams. Once passed, the Board will notify the candidate and IHS that they have qualified to sit for the Alabama Written Exam which will be administered by an IHS approved computer testing site. There are multiple monitored sites throughout the U.S. which will be made available by IHS.

continuing credit hours
bEGINNING LICENSING YEAR 2022 ALL LICENSEES WILL be responsible to:

​1. PAY their RENEWAL FEES EACH YEAR BY JANUARY 30TH.
2. submit their twenty (20) CONTINUING EDUCATION HOURS  EVERY TWO YEARS. 
(which by default will be:  2024, 2026, 2028... ETC.)

cURRENT RULES IN PLACE SINCE JAN 30, 2022. ​

​The state board requires SUBMISSION OF TWENTY (20) continuing education units (ceu's or hours) EVERY TWO yearS at license renewal.  in any two (2) consecutive years (20 hour cycle / 10 CEU hours per year),  six (6) directed ceu's must be completed. these (6) directed hours must include: two (2) hours in medical , two (2) hours in patient care/management,  and two (2) hours in alabama state laws & ethics.

the remaining fourteen (14) required non-directed ceu hours (in a TWO (2) YEAR / 20 hour cycle) may be taken in class or online as long as they are ihs approved.  

ALL CEU'S submitted as part of liceNSES  renewals MUST BE registered, APPROVED AND ACCOMPANIED BY an IHS CERTIFICATE OR TRANSCRIPT PROVIDED BY IHS - INTERNATIONAL HEARING SOCIETY. 

NOTE: AN IHS OFFICIAL CERTificate OR TRANSCRIPT IS THE ONLY PERMITTED PROOF OF CREDIT HOURS ACCEPTED BY THE STATE BOARD OFFICE FOR LICENSE RENEWAL.

The Board has been informed that asHhp will provide at least 2 opportunities this year for Directed Hours. Currently set are the GA/AL Conference this summer as well as an instate face-to-face...Date TBA.

ashhp OFFERS ceu credit HOURS each YEAR to assist you in earning the directed hours portion of your license renewal requirements.

web resource that may be utilized  for a portion of required credit hours. HIDB does require six (6) specified CEU hours that may not be submitted from any online provider. you can contact audiology online to register / signup THROUGH THEIR WEBSITE FOR FURTHER INFORMATION. Typically fees are charged for courses as well as submitting earned CEU's to IHS for credit and certificate.

YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR submitting YOUR CEU HOURS with your license renewal each year AND InSURING THAT THEY MEET ALL THE al STATE REQUIREMENTs  FOR APPROVAL by the hidb. HOURS ARE ONLY ACCEPTED THAT ARE ACCOMPANIED BY IHS CERTIFICATES
